The Pawn

The Pawn is the smallest piece in chess, but it has big potential. It moves forward one square at a time, but on its first move, it can go two squares. Pawns capture other pieces by moving diagonally.
The most exciting part about pawns is their ability to transform. If a pawn makes it all the way to the other side of the board, it can become any piece (except the king), often turning into a powerful queen.
