Castling

Castling is a special move in chess that allows the king and a rook to move at the same time. There are two types: short castle (kingside) and long castle (queenside). It's the only move where two pieces move in one turn. Castling helps protect the king and connect the rooks.

🚫 You cannot castle when:


  1. The king is in check

  1. The king moves through a square under attack

  1. The king or rook has moved before.

  1. Pieces are between the king and the rook.



White can do a long castle, but not short since the knight is on the way
